The Australian Government has announced a fuel security package to support domestic refining capability and increase Australia’s fuel security, and it will not be funded through a fuel levy.

This is a big win for the road freight industry and is the positive result of intensive lobbying by NatRoad, the ATA and its members.

The Australian Government will fund the Fuel Security Service Payment (FSSP) to domestic refineries and is part of the overall fuel security response which includes building additional onshore diesel storage and modernising the liquid fuel security emergency legislation.

For full details on the FSSP, please visit the Prime Minister of Australia media page.
