Read time: 1 min

Motorists are advised of changed traffic conditions on the Barrier Highway at Wilcannia due to a temporary closure of the Wilcannia Bridge over the Darling River until mid afternoon on Friday 13 March.

The bridge closure is due to a planned blockade as part of a protest and traffic control will be in place.

There are no suitable diversions in place, and it is expected the closure will cause significant delays for motorists.

Traffic conditions will change at least 500 metres from the closure point with advanced warning and reduced 60 km/h speed zone on approach.

Transport for NSW will have water available for motorists during the closure and will endeavor to maintain access to amenities in Wilcannia.

Transport for NSW is advising motorists to avoid the area, and delay non-essential  travel until the bridge is reopened mid afternoon.

Motorists are advised to drive to the conditions, allow extra travel time and follow the direction of signs and traffic control.
