The bad news is that the deadline for Members who are Company Directors to apply for a Director Identification Number is the end of November. The good news is that it’s dead simple to apply.
The Australian Tax Office introduced Director Identification Numbers (DINs) as a mandatory anti-fraud measure almost a year ago and more than 2.7 million Australians are expected to apply.
From November 1, 2022, directors must have a new DIN before their appointment. Those appointed as a Director on or before October 31, 2021, must apply by November 30, 2022.
For any appointments made after April 5, 2022, Directors must apply for the new Director Identification Number before they are officially appointed.
You can apply for a DIN by using your myGovID app to log in to Australian Business Registry Services online and verify your identity.
