2026 Road Safety Action Plan

On 24 April 2022 the NSW Government announced the 2026 Road Safety Action Plan. Building on the accomplishments of the Road Safety Plan 2021, the new Plan includes new trauma reduction targets and outlines the priority initiatives for delivery over the next five years to progress towards achieving our new targets. The Plan includes actions to improve heavy vehicle safety.


Ralston Fernandes is currently Director Road Safety Strategy and Policy at Transport for NSW, where he oversees development of key strategic directions and policy reforms for road safety. He has over 15 years’ experience in road safety research and policy development, and holds a PhD in Psychology in the field of road user behaviour. Ralston played a leading role in developing the NSW Government’s new 2026 Road Safety Action Plan.
