James Ruse Drive closed in both directions at Rosehill due to chemical spill

James Ruse Drive is closed in both directions through Rosehill due to a chemical spill between Parramatta Road and Hassall Street. 

Motorists travelling south on James Ruse Drive are being diverted on to the M4 to travel east.

Motorists travelling in either direction on Parramatta Road are unable to turn on to James Ruse Drive to travel north.

The M4 westbound off-ramp to James Ruse Drive is also closed.  

Traffic on Parramatta Road is very heavy in both directions. 

Motorists who want to travel north or south should consider using Silverwater Road as an alternative.

Motorists are also advised to allow plenty of extra travel time and follow the directions of police and emergency services on site. 

Buses through the area are also diverting and may be delayed.

Southbound lanes of James Ruse Drive have reopened through Rosehill.

All southbound traffic had been diverting onto the M4 due to a chemical spill. 

Northbound lanes of James Ruse Drive remain closed between Parramatta Road and Hassall Street. 

The M4 westbound off-ramp to James Ruse Drive also remains closed.

Motorists who want to travel north should continue to allow extra travel time and consider Silverwater Road as an alternative. 

Northbound buses continue to divert away from James Ruse Drive and may be delayed.

Emergency services and traffic crews remain on scene.

UPDATE 10:32am

All northbound lanes have reopened on James Ruse Drive at Rosehill following a chemical spill.

All lanes are now open in both directions.

The westbound off-ramp to James Ruse Drive from the M4 has also reopened.

Buses are no longer diverting away from the area.

Heavy traffic in the area is easing.
