Reminder | Mount Isa | Barkly Highway | Sir James Foots Bridge Leichhardt River | Temporary wide load restrictions

TMR would like to remind you that from Wednesday 12 May until Sunday 30 May 2021, temporary wide load restrictions will be in place on the Sir James Foots Bridge, Leichhardt River on the Barkly Highway at Mount Isa while resurfacing works are underway (weather permitting).

Excess mass and dimension vehicles will not be permitted through the site during night closures at the following times.

  • 6pm-6am from 12-19 May 2021
  • 6pm-6am from 26-30 May 2021

Access to the Sir James Foots Bridge, Leichhardt River will be permitted during daylight hours with one lane open under speed reductions.

Heavy vehicle detour
Heavy vehicles up to 3.5m wide can detour via Camooweal Street, Twenty Third Avenue, the Diamantina Development Road and the Barkly Highway (see map below).

Heavy vehicles exceeding 3.5m wide cannot use the detour.

Heavy vehicle stopping bays
Heavy vehicles exceeding 3.5m wide may wait in the following heavy vehicle stopping bays, until day time access is permitted.

  • the truck stop facility east of Mount Isa near Breakaway Creek, Barkly Highway (Cloncurry – Mount Isa)
  • the truck stop facility west of Mount Isa near the Mount Isa Airport, Barkly Highway (Mount Isa – Camooweal)
