If you are a transport operator that uses telematics in your vehicles, there are significant changes you need to be aware of.
1. 3G Closure (Deadline: 30 June/31 August 2024 – dependent on telco)

2. QLD Changes to Telematics Requirements (Deadline: 1 June 2024)
Performance Based Standards (PBS) vehicles and vehicles operating at higher mass limits (HML) in Queensland that are enrolled in IAP and/or interim OBM will be affected by the changes. Eligible vehicles need to transition from the Intelligent Access Program (IAP) to the Telematics Monitoring Application (TMA). Eligible vehicles need to transition from Queensland’s interim On Board Mass (OBM) to Smart OBM.
If any of these changes to telematic requirements apply to your vehicles ensure that you:
a.) Speak to a TCA-certified TMA service provider to enrol in the relevant TMA scheme.
b.) If required by permit, have a TCA-approved Smart OBM system fitted to your vehicle.
c.) Cancel your IAP enrolment by emailing the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads at [email protected] (until 28 March 2024) or the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator at [email protected] (from 2 April 2024).
3. NSW Changes to Telematics Requirements (Deadline: 1 June 2024)
Performance Based Standards (PBS) vehicles operating under permit in NSW where mass monitoring is currently an agreed condition of road access will be affected by the changes. Eligible vehicles can choose to remain enrolled in the Intelligent Access Program (IAP),but may also need to enrol in the Telematics Monitoring Application (TMA) if they have mass monitoring as a condition of access in their permits. Eligible vehicles need to transition from NSW’s interim OBM to Smart OBM.
If any of these changes to telematic requirements apply to your vehicles ensure that you:
a.) Speak to a TCA-certified TMA service provider to enrol in the relevant TMA scheme.
b.) If required by permit, have a TCA-approved Smart OBM system fitted to your vehicle.
After enrolling in TMA, you may choose to cancel your IAP enrolment by contacting the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator at [email protected].
