The Australian Taxation Office (ATO) has advised NatRoad that around 4,000 road freight businesses have not lodged or informed the ATO that they don’t need to lodge a Taxable Payments Annual Report (TPAR). The first report was due in August 2020.

While it’s pleasing that the majority of operators have met their obligations, NatRoad would like to inform operators who have not done so, that it’s not too late to lodge the 2020 TPAR.

The first TPAR, which was due by 28 August 2020 and is for payments made to contractors and subcontractors between 1 July 2019 and 30 June 2020. We are now on the second round with the second report due on 28 August 2021 for contractor payments made to 30 June this year.

Please note that it is important to lodge your TPAR on time, and this can be done online.  The options are:

  • Your business accounting software
  • ATO online services for business
  • Your myGov account linked to the ATO to access our online services (individuals and sole traders only)
  • Your registered tax professional.
