Transport for NSW has provided the below information for our members.

Transport for NSW working closely across government to ensure freight industry operators are able to keep the supply chain flowing through the temporary NSW / Victoria border closure.

Due to the escalating COVID-19 situation in Victoria, the Public Health Order requires freight operators crossing the Victorian border into NSW to have a border entry permit.

Operators can apply for COVID-19 NSW border entry permits on the Service NSW website.

If you experience delays in securing a permit you can still demonstrate your eligibility to cross the border to Police by carrying relevant documentation. Please be assured, however, that freight is recognised as a critical service.

Transport for NSW is continuing to work closely with NSW Police and NSW Health to streamline movements for freight over the border and will keep you across any developments.

Road users are encouraged to plan ahead as detours will be in place and delays are expected due to road closures. You can keep up to date at www.livetraffic.com/.

Of the NSW / Victoria border crossings, six have been prioritised as main crossings. These are: Wodonga Place, South Albury; Hume Highway, South Albury; Cobb Highway, Moama; Newell Highway, Tocumwal; Sturt Highway, Buronga; Princes Highway, Tambillica. Further information can be found here.

An updated Public Health Order has been signed and is available here. Further information regarding protocols for the NSW and Victoria border will be communicated to industry and on the TfNSW freight Coronavirus response webpage.

Don’t hesitate to contact a NatRoad adviser for help with cross border updates and permit enquiries. Please note that NatRoad has been in contact with the Government of NSW to resolve the current issues with the online permit.
