The Australian Taxation Office (ATO) has issued a reminder to employers to enrol all eligible employees for JobKeeper payments by 31 August 2020.
JobKeeper August declaration update
The August JobKeeper monthly business declaration is due by 14 September 2020. Employers will need to claim for the following three fortnights:
- Fortnight 9 – commencing 20 July 2020
- Fortnight 10 – commencing 3 August 2020
- Fortnight 11 – commencing 17 August 2020
For fortnights 10 and 11, employers have until 31 August 2020 to meet the wage condition for all new eligible employees included in the JobKeeper scheme, under the 1 July eligibility test.
Employers should include employees that are newly eligible and employed as at 1 July 2020. You can do this as part of the monthly declaration, however newly eligible employees as at 1 July 2020 can only be included from fortnight 10.
