Road transport keeps Australia moving but the conditions are unrelenting – extreme weather, uneven road surfaces and long distances to cover. So we put Ampol’s new 1 litre Amplify Diesel HD Injector Cleaner to the test under real-life conditions with a remote Western Australia freight provider, to prove its value in reducing fuel consumption by up to 12% and increasing overall performance.
Designed to ‘shock’ treat the fuel system, our heavy duty Amplify Diesel HD Injector Cleaner is a highly concentrated version of the deposit control technology that is present in our Amplify Diesel fuel and is designed to attack the carbon deposits that prevent the efficient flow of fuel into the combustion chamber. This is particularly useful where trucks have always been filled with regular diesel and the desire is to achieve all of the cleaning and protection benefits of Amplify Diesel quickly.

We tested the difference clean injectors made to vehicle performance and fuel efficiency over a six-week period under real road and work conditions. LR Hotshots made available six modern Isuzu trucks that covered their regular routes from Perth to the Pilbara, with the same six drivers who shared the vehicles. The fuel filters were replaced and the tyres inspected before the trial commenced.
Each truck’s 200L fuel tank was dosed with the new Amplify Diesel HD Injector Cleaner. The trucks continued to use regular (unadditised) diesel throughout the trial and no oil changes were conducted during the trial.
We gathered baseline data on fuel consumption plus fuel injection compensation and as the trial progressed, we regularly monitored the ongoing fuel consumption and efficiency data. We took readings when the Amplify Diesel HD Injector Cleaner was first used and for around 20,000km.
After using Amplify Diesel HD Injector Cleaner, the injectors showed an improvement of up to 12% fuel efficiency with an average fuel efficiency gain of 8% across the fleet of six trucks.
